Margaret "Peggy" Herrmann is a registered patent attorney whose intellectual property law experience includes IP litigation, patent post-issuance proceedings, patent preparation and prosecution, and clearance and legal opinions. Peggy has extensive experience drafting and negotiating various agreements including non-disclosure agreements, material transfer agreements, professional services agreements, IP license agreements, and asset purchase agreement. She has worked with clients engaged in a spectrum of technology, such as semiconductors, building materials, automotive braking systems, medical devices, polymers, food science, food packaging, rail transportation, and personal mobility devices.
Peggy’s background includes working with both individual inventors, for whom she has drafted agreements, demand letters, and patent applications, and multinational corporate clients, one of whom she supported as interim in-house patent counsel. Peggy has experience conducting advertising clearance and drafting office action responses for trademark prosecution. She has also served as a member of a litigation team enforcing copyrights for an independent author.
Peggy is a strong advocate who relentlessly strives to assist her clients in achieving their immediate objectives while bearing in mind their overall goals and values.
While attending Chicago-Kent College of Law, Peggy served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Ann Claire Williams of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. Peggy was also a supervising manager and volunteer at the Self-Help Web Center at the Cook County Circuit Court for nearly three years, where she assisted pro se litigants with writing and filing motions, complaints, and fee waivers, while training and supervising other volunteers.
Prior to law school, Peggy was a paralegal at a Chicago-area law firm, where she drafted settlement agreements and discovery responses, conducted legal research and analysis, and supported her supervising attorney at trial.
